The beautiful autumn weather in Calgary is the perfect backdrop for an afternoon enjoying your custom backyard out by the grill. Grilling your food can be healthy and fun, not to mention it’s a great way to get your family outdoors together a few more times before winter sets in. Try out some of our tips below to make your barbecued dishes turn out delicious!
One of the most essential rules of grilling is to keep your grill clean. A grill is like a canvas for your culinary art, and each time you start a new masterpiece, you want to begin with a clean slate. The best time to clean your grill is after you’ve used it, when it is still warm. Simply allow most of your cooking residue to burn off when you’re using your grill, and then afterwards you can easily clean off the grates with a wire brush. Once your grill is cleaned, remember to oil the grates before each use. This will keep your food from sticking and make your grill easier to clean afterwards.
When you’re ready to fire up the grill, be sure to wait for the grill to become hot before you put any food on it. You should prepare your grilling area with everything you will need, including food, seasonings and safety supplies in case of a fire. It’s also helpful to keep a small section of your grill unheated so that food can be quickly moved to that space if there is a flare-up.
