The London Olympics inspired many Canadians to celebrate London’s culture across the pond. At Ananda Landscapes, we were inspired to imagine the design of a traditional English country garden.
Typically an English country garden contains formal flowerbeds separated by pathways. These pathways can be dirt, gravel or stone. There is also usually a pond, fountain or other large water feature as a central focal point in the garden.
We can create a replica of an English garden, or these ideas into a more informal backyard setting. A mixture of annuals, perennials and bulbs can be planted in a display around a fountain or sundial. Many English country gardens have outdoor accessories that set a whimsical tone for the garden. Soft lighting will make evenings in your garden feel enchanted.
Walking through your garden will transport you back to Eighteenth-century England. The elegant atmosphere is perfect for a quiet relaxing evening, or a weekend brunch (or high tea) with friends.
